Excerpt from The Morris Family of Philadelphia, Descendants of Anthony Morris, Born 1654-1721, Vol. 3 In 1843 his attention was directed to railroads, and in J anu ary of that year, he was called to the Presidency of the Philadel phia, Germantown and Norristown Railroad; this position he resigned, after a term of ten years, to accept the greater respon sibility as President of the Long Island Railroad. Here he remained ten years, till elected vice-president and acting Presi dent of the New York and Harlem Railroad. He held this position one year, his health compelling his resignation, and he returned, in the spring of 1864, to his former home in German town, Pa.
