Through a series of free verse, prose, and blackout poetry, peppered with line illustrations, this work seeks to both reveal the commonness of missed opportunities and provide hope that these opportunities can be revisited. Born out of the quiet beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic - where one couldn't say or do much of anything with anyone - this collection muses on thoughts and actions the author didn't say or do while she was around people regularly. Originally a series of thoughts literally written on trash and thrown away, these poems explore the words left unsaid and forgotten, the chances not taken out of fear and anxiety, and the hope that we all deserve a second chance at finding our voice. These poems are confessions of what was not accomplished that ultimately transcend more than the regrets they originally held. This is a collection of love letters to you and to everyone - to trampolines and parks and rec departments, to missed opportunities and mistakes - asking the question: what are you waiting for?
