Kole's purpose as a poet is to participate in the larger movement of cultivating a more unified society by encouraging open dialogue on the uncomfortable topics of rape, sexual and physical abuse, depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts and ideations, all of which are exhibited in her poetry.
