James and Jewl live in Portland, Oregon in the near-future. Jewl is five years older, and they have apparently never met and are not related, yet when they do meet, they immediately sense a powerful connection. James considers they are bonded, that their bodies know each other; Jewl is skeptical and wary: how can this be, and what if they are related or bound by trauma?
