With a passion for crafting intricate beadwork, she draws inspiration from nature and from the wisdom encapsulated with the seven grandfather teachings. Her small business, FutureKokum, translates to "future grandmother" in Cree. Like many cultures, elders are highly respected within the community and the hope for FutureKokum is to pass on those traditions and learnings to the future generations. Through her artistic expression , Jessica McKenzie embodies a cultural journey that weaves tradition and modern design into beadwork.
