An analysis of the factors bearing on the formations to be adopted by Combat Teams and Infantry Reserve Battalions during a ship-to-shore movement incidental to a forced landing, in joint operations of the Army and Navy, to include presentation of certain type formations applicable to specific land and sea areas. The study will deal only with those operations in which it is intended to capture and hold certain terrain. Formations especially applicable to raids are not therefore, to be included. Neither will the debarkation of units from beached transports on steeply shelving shores be discussed.
