Frederick Spencer writes about his colorful upbringing in the semi-magical world of Savannah, Georgia in an old, somewhat stately but poorly-maintained house just south of the historic district. Most of his early life took place straight up and down the Bull Street corridor, from Forsyth Park through the city's wonderful squares all the way up to Bay Street and the Savannah River itself. Spencer is a former instructor in the School of Journalism at the University of Georgia.
