Desmond Hubble had a privileged upbringing but when World War 2 broke out he gave no thought to himself or his business interests and joined the British army. Hubble could have had a comfortable war turning his businesses to the war effort or on the home front. Like many others he pursued a path into the intelligence community and to a mission behind enemy lines with the Maquis in France. Desmond's sacrifice was typical of the delaying tactics preventing German mobilisation to the Normandy invasion and the ultimate destruction of the Nazi menace.
