Butterfly Kisses is a story about five-year-old Amelia, who is afraid to start school because she doesn't want to be apart from her mom. Her mom eventually finds a small way to help Amelia, and Amelia gradually adjusts to the transition. Separation anxiety is an all too common issue for young children and their parents. This book shows children that it's okay to be scared when starting something new and that like Amelia, they too will eventually come to enjoy their newfound independence. About the Author Deborah Grivois Thorpe earned a Master of Science Degree in Human Resource Management and spent her career as a human resource professional. Now retired, she enjoys writing, reading, dance, and travel. Thorpe grew up with her family in East Hartford, Connecticut and now resides in Vernon, Connecticut. Butterfly Kisses is her second children's book; the first is The Runaway Christmas Tree.
