Baraka Bakshis is almost a half a century in the making. It all started with a dream. But it was more than a dream really. It was more like a kaleidoscope of images, happening all at the same time which seemed to appear in my head so long ago. At first there was an image of Jesus, pointing to a white Arabian stallion. He said nothing at all; He only pointed. In an instant I saw that mighty stallion as a tiny new born colt, being born in the desert. Thus began the adventures of Baraka Bakshis, the horse that lived in the time of Jesus. I saw him meet Jesus on a long a dusty road, making his way to Nazareth. And I heard, with the ears of my heart, the new name which Jesus gave to him - Baraka, which means 'blessed.' In Arabic, Bakshis means 'Gift, ' This horse, I realized, was no ordinary horse; He was a "Blessed Gift" from God. This is his story. In the book, these two characters meet again many years later, in what turns out to be Jesus' final moments on earth. And so this story will take you from the deserts of Arabia, to Nazareth, to Rome and finally, to Jerusalem. Like the tale which is about to unfold before you, the writing of Baraka Bakshis also travelled a long and winding road.
