After leaving New England for northern hills, forgetting ill supports behind him, Grim finds pleasant surprise and change of rhythm in the last frontier. A different depth of understanding, he opens a fresh outlook with glaciers, wild animals of all kinds, and a new way of thinking. In a high mountain pass with a light sprinkling of snow from a northerly breeze, a large alpha wolf stands on the shoulder of a rustic road. Panting, mouth partially open, he stands watch for his brothers to cross. As the last one leaves the road, Grim runs the forty yards to the spot where he sees the tracks tread up into bramble and bush. No man can enter. Opening his eyes underwater at Skipper's Bay, Grim spies a twisting, fast-moving seal turning to leave, which is good as they have wicked sharp teeth and are dangerous. He pushes off the rocky bottom some twenty-five feet to the surface, suddenly cold. The chill wrapping around him, he swims over to his clothes and dried off with his sweats, shirt, and hoodie. "What are you laughing at, Charlie?" Trying to catch his breath, Charlie exclaims, "You are crazy swimming in this cold water!" Smiling, Grim takes a good look around at the steep emerald hills and the myriad of waterfalls large and small. "Let's take this one up. Bring the camera."
