The story is set in Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario and tells of the adventures of a young girl -- lost and alone in the dead of winter who calls out for help -- and an unlikely hero,  Sarna the Dog of Fate, who comes to her aid.  It is also a story of the bond of trust and friendship that grows between them.
