A Journal of Journeys is a collection of people and their stories as they rode the author's shuttle van between Flagstaff, Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix, The Grand Canyon, and Sedona, Arizona. Patrick Payne, the professional driver out of retirement, again, and drawn back behind the wheel as if addicted to driving the open road. More specifically, those Arizona highways. Payne's own words, "When I drive, I'm at home. And I love it, always will." might describe his persona. Hooked on driving. And hooked on people, as making meaningful connections with unlikely characters became an almost every trip occurrence. Whimsical childhood reflections offered by contemporary interactions with passengers, serendipity, and an occasional dash of synchronicity served as the recipe for A Journal of Journeys. Finally, the author realizes that in addition to stories of people and their travels, he was writing a love story. The adventures romantic of so many people in the world caught up and participated in this huge but gentle swirling maelstrom of the journey, depositing their stories in Arizona and in his van. He then being charged with their eventual sharing in this book. This Journal of Journeys
